Our Story

TruFoster exists because the data demands it. Sixty percent of sex trafficking victims in the United States have spent time in foster care. Each year more than 20,000 young people age out of the system with no family — and traffickers know their timelines. We believe the most effective intervention is also the most dignified one: a real job, a real mentor, and a real community.

TruFoster is a division of TruRecruiting, launched in partnership with the Amplio Foundation. We take the playbook that has placed tens of thousands of overlooked workers into careers and point it at America's most vulnerable young people.

Our Theory of Change

Stable, meaningful employment is the single most powerful protective factor against trafficking for foster youth — and the most cost-effective intervention available. One placement costs roughly $1,200 to deliver; one trafficking victim costs society an average of $1,000,000. That is why we measure success in placements, retention, and lives redirected.
